About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and resourceful Broadcast Journalist to join their busy newsroom in Birmingham . This role is critical in delivering timely and accurate news coverage across television and digital platforms. You will be responsible for uncovering compelling stories, conducting interviews, and producing engaging content that informs and resonates with our audience. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, allowing for a balance between on-location reporting and in-depth content creation from home. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to upholding journalistic integrity and pushing the boundaries of news delivery in the West Midlands region.

Key Responsibilities

• Pitch, research, write, and edit news stories for broadcast and online publication, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and public figures, asking probing questions and eliciting clear responses.
• Operate camera and audio equipment for live reports and pre-recorded segments when necessary.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, and other journalists to develop compelling news packages.
• Monitor news feeds, social media, and other sources for breaking news and developing stories.
• Maintain a strong network of contacts within the community and relevant industries.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Journalist or Reporter, preferably with broadcast media experience.
• Demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately under pressure.
• Experience with video editing software and broadcast news production workflows is a plus.
• Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and legal standards.
• Excellent interviewing and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse sources.
