Buyer - Capital Equipment

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Buyer with experience in Capital Equipment to join their purchasing team in Plymouth . This hybrid role offers a balanced approach to work, combining essential on-site collaboration with remote flexibility. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring high-value capital equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines. This role is critical for supporting the company's operational infrastructure and expansion plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire procurement lifecycle for capital equipment, from initial requirement definition through to delivery and installation.
• Source potential suppliers globally, conduct thorough due diligence, and manage competitive bidding processes (RFQs/RFPs).
• Negotiate complex contracts and terms for capital purchases, focusing on value, warranties, and service agreements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure technical specifications and financial requirements are met.
• Monitor market trends for capital equipment and identify opportunities for cost savings and technological advancements.
• Oversee supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure timely delivery and post-installation support.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist, with a significant focus on capital equipment procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing large value contracts.
• Familiarity with global supply chains and international sourcing for machinery and equipment.
• Excellent understanding of technical specifications, project management principles, and financial analysis related to capital expenditure.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
