Buyer II

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Buyer II to join their established purchasing department in Sunderland . This role focuses on managing procurement for specific product lines or categories, ensuring the availability of materials and components while achieving cost and quality targets. You will work closely with suppliers, internal engineering, and production teams to ensure smooth operations and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying opportunities for process enhancement and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the sourcing and purchasing of assigned materials, components, or services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with a portfolio of suppliers, monitoring their performance and addressing any issues promptly.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure competitive advantage and cost savings.
• Collaborate with internal departments, such as operations and quality control, to ensure procurement activities meet business needs.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of category strategies and sourcing plans.
• Process purchase orders, track deliveries, and manage inventory levels effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of procurement best practices, supply chain dynamics, and negotiation techniques.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., CIPS) is advantageous.
