Buyer - Indirect Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Buyer specializing in Indirect Materials to join their dynamic purchasing department in Leeds . This role is vital for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of non-production goods and services essential for daily operations. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating prices, and processing purchase orders efficiently. The successful candidate will be proactive, possess strong commercial acumen, and be dedicated to supporting the operational needs of the business through excellent procurement practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure a range of indirect goods and services, including MRO, facilities supplies, and professional services.
• Manage supplier performance and relationships, ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings targets.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their indirect material needs.
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities and supplier information.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, with a focus on indirect spend.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.
• Good understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
