About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer specializing in indirect materials to join their established purchasing department based in Manchester . In this role, you will be responsible for procuring a wide range of non-production goods and services, including office supplies, IT equipment, and professional services, ensuring best value and timely delivery. You will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the operational efficiency of a reputable company, working within a dedicated team focused on strategic sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement process for indirect goods and services, from requisition to order fulfillment.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and pricing to achieve cost efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Monitor supplier performance, address any issues, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Track market trends and competitor activities to identify potential risks and opportunities within the indirect spend categories.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing role, with a focus on indirect spend.
- Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to secure competitive pricing and terms.
- Excellent understanding of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle.
- Proficiency in using procurement software or ERP systems, and strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
