Buyer - Maternity cover 9m FTC

Buyer: Consumer Products | Andover | Hybrid | £55,000 + 15% bonus + Excellent benefits | 9 month FTC | Potential longer term opportunity

Are you a commercially sharp Buyer who knows how to get the best from suppliers, negotiate a great deal and spot an opportunity to grow a category?

ReQuire Consultancy is partnering with an established and highly successful organisation to recruit an experienced Buyer into its commercial purchasing team.

Initially offered as a 9-month fixed-term contract, this is a substantial buying role with real ownership. You'll inherit an established product category and supplier base, but importantly, you'll also have the freedom to challenge, negotiate, analyse and identify where further commercial opportunities exist.

Previous experience within the client's sector would naturally be advantageous, but it isn't essential. We're much more interested in finding someone who understands buying, can demonstrate strong commercial instincts and has successfully managed supplier relationships and product categories.

The role

You'll take ownership of the purchasing relationship with your suppliers, negotiating commercial terms and ensuring the product range remains competitive, relevant and commercially successful. The formal brief includes responsibility for trading terms, ranging, pricing, forecasting, stock performance and promotional activity.

You'll be looking at the numbers, understanding what's selling, monitoring the wider market and working with suppliers to identify opportunities to improve performance.

This will include:

*

Managing and developing key supplier relationships

*

Negotiating pricing, trading terms and commercial agreements

*

Reviewing and developing product ranges

*

Forecasting and planning stock requirements

*

Managing promotional activity and supplier opportunities

*

Monitoring competitor activity and market pricing

*

Using data to support buying and commercial decisions

*

Identifying new products, suppliers and opportunities for growth

*

Working collaboratively across purchasing, commercial and operational teams

About you

We're looking for an established Buyer, Category Buyer, Senior Buyer or commercially focused Product/Category Manager who can demonstrate genuine ownership of suppliers and commercial decisions.

You'll be comfortable negotiating, working with data and understanding the relationship between price, margin, stock, availability and customer demand.

You'll probably have worked within a product-led retail, wholesale, distribution or consumer environment, although we're deliberately keeping the sector background open.

What matters is that you've bought products rather than simply processed purchasing, can hold your own in supplier negotiations and enjoy finding ways to improve commercial performance.

Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse and present information will also be important; the original specification specifically calls for advanced Excel alongside strong analytical and presentation capability.

The opportunity

This is a great chance to join a well-established organisation with a sizeable purchasing operation and take responsibility for a meaningful product category.

Yes it is an initial 9-month FTC, there is the potential for the opportunity to develop beyond the initial contract.

*

£55,000 (c) + 15% bonus

*

Excellent benefits package

*

Hybrid working

*

Fantastic culture

If you're an experienced Buyer who enjoys the commercial side of the job suppliers, negotiation, products, numbers and ultimately getting the right deal, we'd be keen to hear from you.
