Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Buyer specialising in Raw Materials to join their purchasing team on a fully remote basis. This critical role involves managing the sourcing and procurement of all raw materials required for production, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. You will be responsible for developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional to leverage their expertise in a remote capacity and significantly impact the supply chain's efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for all raw materials , ensuring high quality and competitive pricing.
• Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers to support production demands and cost targets.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials, forecasting demand and implementing strategies to minimise stockouts and excess stock.
• Monitor supplier performance, addressing any quality, delivery, or service issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of all purchasing transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.
• Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure material specifications are met and to resolve any supply chain challenges.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer, with a specific focus on raw materials or commodities procurement.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management techniques.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, adept at remote collaboration.
