Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Buyer with a focus on Raw Materials to join their dedicated purchasing team in Cambridge . This critical role involves managing the end-to-end procurement process for essential raw materials, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and competitive pricing. You will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to support the company's manufacturing and product development needs. Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure high-quality raw materials according to specified requirements and production schedules.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and assess their capabilities and reliability.
• Negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with raw material suppliers.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and resolve any supply chain issues.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company purchasing policies.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to meet material needs and specifications.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Buyer, specifically in raw materials or related commodities.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage supplier contracts.
• Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and inventory management principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to forecast demand and manage costs.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field are advantageous.
