Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Buyer with expertise in raw materials to join their procurement team, operating in a fully remote capacity from Leeds . You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality raw materials essential for the company's manufacturing operations. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and a proactive approach to managing supplier relationships and inventory levels. You will play a vital part in ensuring a consistent and cost-effective supply chain for critical components.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure a variety of raw materials, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality specifications.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating terms and monitoring performance.
• Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing holding costs.
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely deliveries.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about raw material price fluctuations and supply chain trends.
• Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently, resolving any issues or discrepancies promptly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer, with specific experience in sourcing raw materials.
• Proven negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for managing supplier interactions remotely.
