Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Buyer to focus on raw materials procurement for their operations in Leeds . This role is integral to ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of essential materials required for manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating prices, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen understanding of commodity markets, and the ability to build robust relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the efficiency and success of our production line.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure high-quality raw materials according to production requirements and quality standards.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to ensure optimal supply without excess.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key raw material suppliers.
• Collaborate with the production and logistics teams to ensure seamless material flow.
• Track market trends and supplier performance, reporting on key metrics.

Requirements

• Experience in a Buyer or purchasing role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of raw materials sourcing and commodity markets.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
