Buyer - Strategic Sourcing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Buyer with a focus on strategic sourcing to join their expanding purchasing department in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for key categories of spend.
• Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and ethical standards.
• Lead negotiation efforts for complex contracts, including pricing, service levels, and risk mitigation.
• Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance to inform procurement decisions.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs and ensure procurement strategies support business objectives.
• Manage supplier performance and resolve any issues that may arise to maintain optimal supply chain operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Buyer or Procurement role, with a focus on strategic sourcing.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value contracts and achieving significant cost savings.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data related to spend and market dynamics.
• Familiarity with e-procurement tools and ERP systems .
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, suitable for both remote and in-office interactions.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in a business or supply chain discipline.
