Buyer - Strategic Sourcing

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and analytical Buyer with a focus on Strategic Sourcing to join their purchasing team in Leeds . In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying and developing new supplier relationships, negotiating favourable terms, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services critical to the company's operations. You will contribute directly to cost optimisation and supply chain resilience by leveraging market insights and collaborative supplier engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, conducting due diligence to ensure quality and reliability.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure cost-effective agreements.
• Manage existing supplier relationships, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct market research and analyse spend data to identify sourcing opportunities and potential risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure procurement meets business needs.
• Prepare and present reports on supplier performance, cost savings, and market trends.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
• Strong understanding of sourcing strategies and supplier relationship management principles.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting.
