Buyer - Strategic Sourcing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and analytical Buyer with a focus on Strategic Sourcing to join their procurement team in Manchester . This role is critical in identifying, evaluating, and securing suppliers for key materials and services, ensuring optimal quality, cost, and delivery. You will be instrumental in building robust supply chains that support the company's growth and operational objectives. This position offers the chance to work on challenging sourcing projects, develop strong supplier partnerships, and contribute directly to the company's bottom line within a collaborative office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential new suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
• Lead sourcing events, including RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, and evaluate supplier proposals effectively.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favourable agreements.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure reliable supply and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering and operations, to understand material specifications and project requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, with a strong emphasis on strategic sourcing.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and achieving significant cost reductions.
• Excellent understanding of sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation methodologies, and risk management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline is required.
