Care Assistant (Dementia Care)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a kind-hearted and patient Care Assistant to specialise in dementia care within their established facility in Plymouth . This role is focused on providing compassionate, person-centred support to residents living with dementia, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity are maintained at all times. You will play a crucial role in creating a stimulating and supportive environment that enhances their quality of life and supports their individual needs. Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, with sensitivity and respect for resident dignity.
• Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers, using appropriate equipment as directed.
• Monitor residents' well-being, observing changes in behaviour, mood, or physical health, and reporting these to the nursing staff.
• Support residents with meal times, ensuring dietary needs are met and offering assistance as required.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities tailored to their interests and abilities, promoting cognitive stimulation and social interaction.
• Maintain accurate and detailed care records, documenting observations and interventions clearly.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care role, particularly with individuals living with dementia , is highly preferred.
• A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow care plans precisely.
• Willingness to undergo comprehensive training in dementia care and related subjects.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles and promoting independence.
