About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and insightful Category Analyst to support their FMCG business operations in Oxford . This role is essential for driving category growth through in-depth data analysis, market trend identification, and the provision of actionable recommendations to both internal teams and key retail partners. You will be responsible for interpreting complex sales data, understanding consumer behaviour, and identifying opportunities to optimize product assortments, pricing, and promotions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative aptitude and a passion for unlocking commercial potential in the consumer goods market.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze sales data, market share, and consumer insights to identify key trends and opportunities within specific FMCG categories.
- Prepare regular performance reports and presentations for management and sales teams, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Support Category Managers in developing category strategies, assortment plans, and promotional activities.
- Monitor competitor performance and market dynamics, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure data-driven decisions.
- Utilize category management software and analytical tools to derive actionable insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related analytical field.
- 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, category management, or market research, preferably within the FMCG sector.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.
- Excellent understanding of retail data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) is a plus.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
