About the Role
Our client is looking for a driven and analytical Category Analyst to support their FMCG commercial team in Derby , operating on a hybrid basis. This role is instrumental in providing data-driven insights to inform category strategy, ranging from product assortment and pricing to promotional planning and supplier negotiations. You will work closely with Category Managers to analyze sales performance, market trends, and consumer behaviour, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency with data tools, and a keen interest in the FMCG market, contributing to informed decision-making and the commercial success of key product categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to provide actionable category insights.
- Support Category Managers in developing category plans, including assortment optimisation and pricing strategies.
- Prepare regular performance reports and presentations for commercial teams and senior management.
- Monitor promotional effectiveness and contribute to the planning of future promotional activities.
- Assist in managing supplier data and performance tracking.
- Identify opportunities for category growth and efficiency improvements based on data analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in an analytical role, preferably within FMCG , retail, or a commercial environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to present data clearly and concisely.
