Category Buyer - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is looking for a commercially savvy Category Buyer to join their procurement team in Plymouth . You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing products within specific FMCG categories, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality. This role is vital for maintaining competitive pricing and ensuring the availability of high-quality products for our client's extensive customer base.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG categories.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to achieve best value.
• Manage ongoing supplier performance, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand product requirements and category needs.

Requirements

• Experience as a Buyer or Procurement professional, with a strong focus on the FMCG sector.
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of procurement best practices and contract law.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is advantageous.
