Category Buyer - FMCG

About the Role

Our client, a leading name in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is seeking a strategic and experienced Category Buyer to join their procurement team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations in Nottingham . This role is pivotal in sourcing and managing a diverse range of products within specific categories, ensuring competitive pricing, optimal quality, and reliable supply chains. You will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and managing category performance to maximise profitability and meet consumer demand. This is an excellent opportunity for a buyer with a strong understanding of the FMCG market to drive strategic procurement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG categories.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, negotiating favourable terms, pricing, and contracts.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, quality, and timely delivery.
• Analyse market trends, costs, and competitor activities to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, R&D, operations) to understand product requirements and future needs.
• Monitor category performance, including spend, savings, and supplier risk.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical procurement practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience (4+ years) as a Category Buyer or Senior Buyer, ideally within the FMCG sector .
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing supplier contracts.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple categories remotely.
