Our client is seeking a focused and experienced Category Buyer to manage specific spend categories within their purchasing department in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is essential for optimizing the sourcing and procurement of goods and services within designated areas, driving cost efficiency and supplier performance. You will leverage your expertise to develop category strategies, negotiate favourable terms, and ensure the reliable supply of materials critical to the business. This position operates within a hybrid work model, combining essential office-based collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for assigned spend areas to achieve cost savings and supply chain improvements.
• Conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within your categories.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure best value and terms.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and conduct regular reviews.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure alignment with category strategies.
• Process purchase requisitions and manage the order fulfillment process for your categories.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Buyer or in a similar purchasing role, with 3-5 years specific to category management.
• Strong understanding of category management principles and strategic sourcing techniques.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
• Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
