About the Role
Our client, a prominent innovator in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is seeking a strategic and insightful Category Development Manager to join their team in Cambridge . This role focuses on driving category growth and strategic alignment with key retail partners. You will be responsible for leveraging market insights, shopper data, and commercial acumen to develop compelling category strategies, optimize product assortments, and influence retail execution. This is a key position for someone passionate about understanding consumer behaviour and translating it into actionable category growth plans within the competitive FMCG landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies that align with retail partner objectives and drive mutual growth.
- Analyze category performance, shopper behaviour, and market trends to identify actionable insights and opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with sales and brand teams to present category strategies and recommendations to retail partners.
- Optimize product ranging, merchandising, and promotional plans to enhance category appeal and sales.
- Build strong relationships with key contacts at retail partners, acting as a category expert.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and recommend strategic adjustments to maintain category leadership.
Requirements
- University degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in category management, shopper insights, or commercial strategy within the FMCG industry .
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) and Excel.
- Proven ability to develop and articulate data-driven category strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with retail partners.
