About the Role
Our client, a leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Development Manager to join their commercial team in Bristol . This role is critical in driving category growth and profitability by leveraging consumer insights, market data, and strategic planning. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities within key categories, developing compelling category strategies, and collaborating closely with sales and marketing teams to ensure effective implementation at the retail level. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape category performance and brand strategy in a dynamic market, utilizing a hybrid work model that blends in-office collaboration with remote strategic work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic category plans to drive sales volume, market share, and profitability.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of market data, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop effective category strategies and compelling selling propositions for key retailers.
- Work with marketing teams to align category plans with overall brand strategies and marketing initiatives.
- Manage product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies to optimize category performance.
- Present category insights and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management , brand management, or a related commercial role within the FMCG industry .
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills.
- Experience with retail strategy and understanding of shopper marketing principles.
