Category Manager - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic and analytical Category Manager to join their thriving FMCG business in Leeds . In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies that drive profitable growth, enhance market position, and meet evolving consumer needs. You will work closely with internal teams and external retail partners to optimize product assortments, pricing, promotions, and merchandising. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term category strategies that align with overall business objectives and market trends.
• Analyze sales data, market performance, and consumer insights to identify opportunities for growth and category optimization.
• Collaborate with the sales team to build strong relationships with retail partners, ensuring effective execution of category plans.
• Manage product portfolios, including assortment planning, pricing strategies, and promotional activities, to maximize sales and profitability.
• Work with marketing and product development teams to identify new product opportunities and support successful launches.
• Monitor competitor activities and market dynamics to maintain a competitive edge and adapt strategies accordingly.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Category Management , preferably within the FMCG sector .
• Strong understanding of retail sales, merchandising, and category dynamics.
• Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation (e.g., Nielsen, IRI data).
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful category strategies.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in Leeds .
