About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and commercially astute Category Manager to oversee a key category within the FMCG sector in Leeds . This role is crucial for driving category growth, optimizing product assortment, and maximizing profitability through insightful data analysis and effective supplier relationships. You will be responsible for defining the category vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. This position requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of retail dynamics and consumer behavior within the fast-moving consumer goods market, working from our Leeds office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a clear category strategy that drives sales, profitability, and market share growth.
• Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure the optimal product assortment and pricing strategy.
• Develop promotional plans and in-store execution strategies to drive consumer demand.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless category management.
• Monitor category performance against KPIs and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of retail operations and consumer purchasing behavior.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective category strategies.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
