About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Manager to drive growth and profitability for key product categories within the FMCG sector in Edinburgh . This role is pivotal in developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing product assortments to meet consumer needs and retailer objectives. You will work closely with commercial teams, marketing, and supply chain to ensure category success and competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies that drive sales volume, market share, and profitability.
- Manage and nurture relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and promotional plans.
- Analyze market data, consumer trends, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and risks.
- Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities to maximize category performance and meet consumer demand.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement effective go-to-market plans.
- Monitor category performance, track key metrics, and provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry .
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation (e.g., Nielsen, IRI data).
- Proven negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Excellent understanding of retail dynamics and consumer purchasing behavior.
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
