About the Role
Our client, a prominent name in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is looking for a strategic and experienced Category Manager to oversee a key product category based in Edinburgh . This role is integral to driving category growth, profitability, and market leadership through insightful analysis and effective strategic planning. You will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers, optimizing product assortment, and implementing merchandising strategies to maximize sales and consumer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive sales, profitability, and market share growth.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer purchasing behavior to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory levels for the assigned category.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring product availability.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement effective go-to-market plans.
- Monitor category performance against KPIs and provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Category Manager or in a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry or retail sector.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing category strategies that drive profitable growth.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret sales data and market insights.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in category management software and tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
