Category Manager - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Category Manager to oversee a key product category within their extensive FMCG portfolio in Birmingham . This role is crucial for driving sales performance, optimizing product assortment, and developing strong relationships with retail partners. You will be responsible for category planning, ranging, pricing strategies, and promotional execution to maximize profitability and market share. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies to achieve ambitious sales and profit targets for the assigned product lines.
• Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and threats.
• Manage the category's product assortment, pricing architecture, and promotional calendar in collaboration with the sales and marketing teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail buyers and internal stakeholders to drive category initiatives.
• Develop compelling business cases for new product introductions and category initiatives.
• Ensure effective inventory management and supply chain coordination to meet demand efficiently.

Requirements

• University degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Category Manager or similar commercial role within the FMCG sector .
• Strong understanding of the retail landscape and category management principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of commercial acumen.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) and MS Office Suite.
• Effective negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
