Category Manager - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Category Manager to oversee indirect spend procurement in Southampton . This senior role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to develop and execute category strategies that drive significant cost savings and improve supplier performance. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage key supplier relationships, and ensure that procurement activities align with the company's overall business objectives. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for indirect spend areas (e.g., IT, facilities, professional services, marketing).
• Lead complex sourcing events, including RFPs/RFQs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations to achieve optimal value.
• Manage and develop relationships with key strategic suppliers, driving performance improvement and innovation.
• Conduct thorough market analysis and supplier assessments to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure procurement solutions meet evolving needs.
• Monitor category performance against defined KPIs and financial targets, reporting on savings and value creation.

Requirements

• Significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management , particularly within indirect spend.
• Proven ability to develop and execute successful sourcing strategies that deliver substantial cost savings.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; CIPS qualification is a plus.
