Category Manager - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Category Manager with a focus on Indirect Spend to join their established procurement team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This strategic role is responsible for managing a specific portfolio of indirect categories, including facilities management, professional services, and IT. You will drive value creation through category planning, supplier relationship management, and cost optimization initiatives. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to develop robust category strategies that align with business needs and contribute to the company's profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas to deliver significant cost savings and value.
• Lead complex sourcing projects, including RFI/RFP development, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Monitor market trends, identify potential risks and opportunities within assigned categories, and implement proactive measures.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements in procurement activities.
• Manage supplier performance through regular reviews and drive continuous improvement in service delivery and cost.

Requirements

• Significant experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically within indirect procurement.
• Demonstrated success in delivering substantial cost savings and value through strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets.
• Excellent contract negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
• Proficiency with e-sourcing tools and procurement platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
