Category Manager - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client seeks a strategic and experienced Category Manager specializing in Indirect Spend to join their procurement team based in Cardiff . This role is responsible for developing and implementing category strategies for non-direct goods and services, such as IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services. You will drive value through effective supplier management, cost reduction initiatives, and risk mitigation, ensuring that the procurement of these essential categories supports the company's operational needs and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas, aligning with business objectives.
• Lead sourcing events, including RFPs/RFQs, and conduct detailed supplier evaluations and negotiations.
• Manage key supplier relationships to ensure service level agreements are met and foster strategic partnerships.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within assigned categories.
• Conduct spend analysis and market intelligence to inform category strategies and support decision-making.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs and ensure procurement solutions meet requirements.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in category management or strategic sourcing, particularly within indirect spend.
• Strong understanding of contract negotiation and supplier management principles.
• Proven ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with e-procurement tools and systems.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., CIPS).
