Category Manager - IT Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Category Manager specializing in IT Procurement to join their team in Cambridge . This hybrid role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for all IT-related goods and services, including hardware, software, and technology solutions. You will manage key supplier relationships, negotiate complex contracts, and drive significant cost savings and value for the organization. This is a strategic position that requires deep market knowledge and strong stakeholder management skills within a dynamic tech-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for IT hardware, software, cloud services, and telecommunications.
• Lead complex sourcing initiatives, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations with IT vendors.
• Manage and develop relationships with key IT suppliers, ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Conduct market analysis and total cost of ownership assessments for IT procurements.
• Collaborate closely with IT leadership and business units to understand technology roadmaps and procurement needs.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the IT procurement category.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or Senior Buyer with a strong focus on IT procurement.
• Expertise in negotiating software licenses, hardware agreements, and complex IT services contracts.
• In-depth understanding of IT market trends, vendor landscapes, and technology solutions.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling and TCO analysis.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification is highly advantageous.
