Category Manager - Snacks & Confectionery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Manager to oversee their Snacks & Confectionery portfolio in Portsmouth . This integral role within the FMCG sector involves driving category growth through effective merchandising, pricing strategies, and supplier relationship management. You will be responsible for understanding consumer trends, competitor activities, and shopper behaviour to maximize category performance and profitability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies that align with overall business objectives and drive profitable growth.
• Analyze category performance, sales data, and market trends to identify opportunities and challenges.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and optimize product assortments and pricing.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful product launches and promotional activities.
• Monitor competitor activities and shopper insights to inform category decisions.
• Present category reviews and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management or a similar role within the FMCG industry , with specific experience in Snacks & Confectionery.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent understanding of retail merchandising, pricing strategies, and consumer behaviour.
• Proficiency in category management software and data analysis tools.
