About the Role
Our client is seeking an analytical and strategic Category Manager to oversee a key category within their FMCG portfolio, based in Bradford . You will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies that drive profitable growth, enhance brand positioning, and meet consumer needs. This role requires a deep understanding of the retail and FMCG markets, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external retail partners to maximize category performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies, including product assortment, pricing, promotion, and placement, to drive profitable growth.
- Analyze market data, consumer trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and challenges within assigned categories.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, operations) to ensure alignment and effective execution of category plans.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of the category, identifying key drivers of success and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the sales team to present category strategies and plans to retail partners, influencing their decisions and securing optimal shelf space and promotional support.
- Ensure product availability and effective inventory management for the category, optimizing stock levels and minimizing waste within the FMCG supply chain.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful category strategies that deliver measurable results.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience presenting to retail buyers and stakeholders.
