Chemical Engineer - Petrochemical Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer to contribute to the operational excellence of their petrochemical facilities located in Glasgow . This role is crucial for maintaining and improving the efficiency, safety, and environmental performance of complex petrochemical processes. You will work hands-on with operational teams, applying sound engineering principles to solve day-to-day challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for an engineer eager to gain in-depth experience in a demanding industrial environment and contribute to the reliable production of essential petrochemical products.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze plant performance data to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Develop and manage change control procedures for process modifications and equipment upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with all site safety, environmental, and operational regulations and procedures.
• Support process safety studies, including HAZOPs, and contribute to the implementation of safety recommendations.
• Assist in the commissioning and start-up of new equipment and process modifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-5 years of experience in a chemical plant operations or process engineering role, preferably within the petrochemical sector.
• Strong understanding of chemical thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities, essential for site-based operations.
