Chemical Engineer - Project Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Chemical Engineer with strong project management capabilities to lead key capital projects in Reading . This role is integral to the successful planning, execution, and delivery of new process installations and plant upgrades. You will be responsible for managing project scope, budget, schedule, and resources, ensuring all projects meet safety, quality, and operational targets. The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, driving projects from conception through to commissioning in a hands-on, site-focused capacity within Berkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full lifecycle of chemical engineering projects, from initiation to close-out.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
• Oversee engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure projects comply with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
• Liaise effectively with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in chemical process engineering, with at least 2 years in project management.
• Proven ability to manage complex capital projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with site operations and working within a manufacturing environment in Reading .
