Chemical Engineer - R&D Scale-Up

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer with a strong background in R&D scale-up to join their innovative team in Bristol, South West England, UK . This role is critical for translating laboratory innovations into viable industrial-scale processes. You will manage the transition of new chemical products and processes from pilot plant to full commercial production, ensuring technical feasibility, safety, and economic viability. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute process scale-up activities for new chemical products and technologies from lab to pilot and commercial scales.
• Design and oversee pilot plant operations, gathering critical data for process design and optimization.
• Perform process safety reviews and implement necessary safeguards for scale-up operations.
• Develop detailed process design packages, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Collaborate with research scientists, manufacturing personnel, and project managers to ensure successful technology transfer.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during scale-up and initial production runs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Significant experience (6+ years) in R&D scale-up and process development within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in process design, simulation, and hazard analysis tools.
• Hands-on experience with pilot plant operations and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation principles.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for effective collaboration in Bristol .
