Chemical Engineer - Scale-Up Specialist

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a specialist Chemical Engineer with a focus on scale-up operations for their advanced manufacturing site in Sunderland . This role is essential for bridging the gap between laboratory innovation and full-scale industrial production, ensuring that new chemical processes are safely and efficiently transitioned to the plant floor. You will play a critical role in optimising process parameters, troubleshooting scale-up challenges, and ensuring robust manufacturing capabilities. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the scale-up of new and existing chemical processes from pilot to commercial production.
• Perform detailed process hazard analyses and risk assessments for scale-up activities.
• Optimise process conditions, equipment design, and operational procedures for efficiency and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during the scale-up and manufacturing phases.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations to ensure successful technology transfer.
• Develop and implement validation protocols for new processes and equipment.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in process scale-up and manufacturing support.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering and mass transfer principles.
• Experience with process safety management and HAZOP studies.
• Proficiency in process simulation tools and data analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities.
