Chemical Engineer - Scale-Up Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer with a specialization in scale-up to join their team in Portsmouth . This role is critical for translating laboratory discoveries into commercially viable production processes. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing pilot plant trials, ensuring that processes are safe, efficient, and scalable. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage pilot plant trials to validate and optimize new chemical processes.
• Develop scale-up strategies, considering factors such as reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer, and safety.
• Analyze pilot plant data to refine process parameters and troubleshoot any issues encountered.
• Ensure all scale-up activities comply with stringent safety and environmental regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing trial results, recommendations, and scale-up considerations.
• Collaborate closely with R&D scientists and manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth technology transfer.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in process scale-up, pilot plant operations, or similar roles within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process safety assessments for new operations.
• Ability to interpret complex data sets and draw practical conclusions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, essential for cross-functional collaboration.
