Chemical Engineer - Speciality Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Chemical Engineer to focus on the production and development of speciality chemicals at their facility in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . Key Responsibilities

• Optimize existing manufacturing processes for speciality chemical production.
• Develop new synthesis routes and scale-up procedures for novel chemical compounds.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety improvements.
• Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with the R&D team on new product introductions and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company safety policies.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, ideally with speciality chemicals.
• Strong understanding of organic synthesis and reaction engineering.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) and HAZOP analysis.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
