Chemical Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and experienced Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their established team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is central to the design and development of new chemical plants and process modifications. You will be responsible for translating process requirements into detailed engineering designs, ensuring efficiency, safety, and operability. This is a key position within a company known for its technical expertise and commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and process calculations.
• Specify process equipment, including pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for new process designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Support the construction and commissioning phases of projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process design engineering.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Strong understanding of unit operations and chemical reaction engineering.
• Experience with relevant industry standards and design codes.
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills, based in Derby .
