Chemical Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leader in innovative chemical solutions, is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their expanding team in Glasgow . This role is essential for conceptualizing and developing new chemical processes and plant designs, translating scientific principles into commercially viable operations. You will play a key role in project development, from initial feasibility studies through to detailed design, ensuring that all designs are efficient, safe, and sustainable, and contribute to the company's growth and market leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process descriptions for new chemical plants and modifications.
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations, equipment sizing, and specification for critical process units.
• Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual design work for projects, evaluating different process technologies and configurations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Support HAZOP studies and risk assessments during the design phase to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Requirements

• BSc or equivalent in Chemical Engineering .
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in process design and engineering, preferably within the chemical manufacturing sector.
• Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, ChemCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, and separation processes.
• Excellent technical drawing interpretation skills and experience with P&IDs.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, crucial for project collaboration in Glasgow .
