Chemical Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their forward-thinking team, operating from a remote-first model with occasional needs for site visits, primarily focused on their operations near Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative chemical processes that meet stringent performance, safety, and environmental requirements. You will leverage your expertise in process simulation and engineering principles to deliver cutting-edge solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs and FEED packages for new chemical process units.
• Perform detailed process design calculations and simulations using industry-standard software.
• Create and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and process control strategies.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with remote and on-site project teams, suppliers, and clients.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Extensive experience in process design, preferably within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or specialty chemicals sector.
• Expertise in process simulation tools and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of process safety, risk management, and environmental impact assessments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.
