Chemical Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Design Engineer to contribute to exciting projects within their facility in Edinburgh . This role is integral to the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative chemical processes and plants. You will leverage your technical expertise to translate client requirements and scientific principles into practical, efficient, and safe engineering designs. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment, playing a key role in the lifecycle of projects from initial feasibility studies through to detailed design and execution, ensuring high standards of engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process designs, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations, equipment sizing, and specification development.
• Conduct process simulations using industry-standard software to optimize designs.
• Ensure designs meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, civil) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments for process designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in chemical process design and engineering.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, ChemCAD).
• Strong understanding of unit operations and chemical reaction engineering.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills for projects in Edinburgh .
