About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their dynamic team in Belfast . This role is central to the innovation pipeline, focusing on the research, development, and scaling-up of new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale. You will work closely with R&D chemists and engineers to translate scientific discoveries into viable manufacturing processes, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and cost-effective. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for problem-solving and a passion for bringing new chemical technologies to life within a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to investigate and optimize chemical reaction pathways and process conditions.
- Develop scalable process designs, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Conduct pilot plant trials, troubleshoot issues, and analyse data to validate process designs.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure smooth technology transfer to manufacturing.
- Perform safety reviews and risk assessments for new processes.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property and technical documentation.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process development or scale-up within the chemical industry.
- Proficiency with process simulation tools and statistical analysis software.
- Experience in laboratory and pilot plant operations.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex experimental data.
