About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their team in Oxford . This role is focused on advancing chemical processes from laboratory concept through to pilot plant and eventual full-scale production. You will work on optimizing reaction conditions, developing efficient separation techniques, and ensuring processes are safe, scalable, and cost-effective. This is a key position within the R&D and engineering departments, offering a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the innovation and improvement of chemical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise chemical processes, focusing on yield improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced safety.
- Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to validate process designs.
- Prepare detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety controls.
- Collaborate with R&D chemists and plant operations teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and successful scale-up.
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or optimisation within the chemical industry.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD).
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
- Experience with process safety methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
