Chemical Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their innovative research and development team. You will focus on the development and optimization of novel chemical processes, from laboratory scale through to pilot plant testing. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for new products and existing product improvements.
• Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot plant trials to validate process designs and gather performance data.
• Utilize process simulation software and data analysis techniques to model and predict process behavior.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs), and scale-up recommendations.
• Collaborate virtually with R&D scientists, engineering teams, and manufacturing personnel.
• Ensure all process development activities adhere to strict safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or optimization, preferably in pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals.
• Proficiency with process simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Aspen Plus).
• Strong understanding of chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to experimentation.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment based in Edinburgh .
