Chemical Process Development Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Chemical Process Development Manager to lead their innovative R&D efforts in Reading . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the development and optimization of chemical processes from laboratory scale through to pilot and commercial implementation. You will manage a team of talented chemical engineers and scientists, driving projects that result in novel products and improved manufacturing efficiencies. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a deep technical understanding of chemical engineering, and a strategic vision for process innovation in Berkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of chemical engineers and scientists focused on process development and scale-up.
• Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of experiments for new chemical processes and product formulations.
• Develop and implement robust strategies for process optimization, cost reduction, and yield improvement.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all process development activities adhere to strict safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with commercial, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure seamless product transition.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in chemical process development, with at least 3 years in a management or team lead role.
• Strong expertise in reaction engineering, catalysis, separation processes, and scale-up principles.
• Experience with process simulation, statistical design of experiments (DoE), and data analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning abilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements relevant to the chemical industry.
