About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Chemical Process Development Manager to lead their process development group in Nottingham . This senior role involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of process development, from conceptual design and laboratory validation through to pilot-scale trials and successful technology transfer to manufacturing. You will manage a team of dedicated scientists and engineers, ensuring the efficient and effective development of innovative and sustainable chemical processes. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong technical background and a passion for driving chemical innovation from bench to production, contributing significantly to the company's growth and technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of process development scientists and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments for process development and optimization.
- Ensure the successful scale-up of chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scales.
- Develop robust process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to meet development milestones.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and integration.
- Champion best practices in process safety, quality assurance, and environmental stewardship throughout the development process.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical process development, scale-up, and technology transfer.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and complex R&D projects.
- In-depth knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, separations, and process modeling.
- Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
