Chemical Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Brighton . This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and operations meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. You will conduct thorough risk assessments, develop safety protocols, and provide expert guidance to mitigate potential hazards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Provide training and guidance on process safety principles to engineering and operations personnel.
• Review process designs and modifications for safety implications before implementation.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong focus on safety.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or related industries.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP studies , risk assessment methodologies, and PSM elements.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and emergency response planning.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, liaising with diverse teams in Brighton .
