Chemical Process Safety Engineer

Our client is looking for a dedicated Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Cambridge . This vital role ensures the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical processes and operations. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for engineering and operational staff.
• Review process designs and modifications to ensure safety integrity is maintained.
• Maintain and update safety documentation, procedures, and regulatory records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with a strong focus on safety.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in chemical process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety standards and regulations (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
