About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and diligent Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team, working remotely. This critical role ensures the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical operations and process designs. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards, implementing robust safety management systems, and fostering a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry standards (e.g., COMAH).
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles to engineering and operational staff.
- Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure inherent safety is maintained or improved.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and methodologies.
- Experience with consequence modeling and risk assessment techniques.
- Strong understanding of safety-critical equipment and control systems.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and reporting skills, essential for remote collaboration.
